It has been a long time since the last posting, but with the end of another academic year, and putting aside some of the duties and burdens of chairing a department, I might be clear for awhile to post some thoughts and updates on latest projects.
The Warhol digital project continues, with some results from the first round of analysis available. The plan is to present some of that data in a presentation at the SECAC conference this coming fall, 2015. After Thomas Brady graduated, Gene Johnson came on board to help on the computer science end of the project. The problem is that my students keep graduating!
This month should also see the completion of the Charles Fraser project. The two primary sketchbooks are scanned, I'm making final notes on some of the images, most of the GPS and mapping information prepared by Jeremy Miller is ready to go, and now the last part is getting all the information successfully presented within the Omeka software that our library uses. I will be pleased to see that project completed, I think many people will be able to make use of it.
Finally have received unofficial word that I will be going to Estonia this summer. This is a great opportunity to dig back into some scholarship on East European art in the 1950s and 1960s, another bit of work that too often ends up on the back burner while I'm teaching, chairing, etc., etc. Also too will be able to connect with Ken Friedman this summer, and begin working on a compendium of his Fluxus work.
As always, I know the summer will go too quickly!
